Game Reviews

My first introduction to gaming was LAN parties with my childhood best friend.  We ended up playing a lot of shooters together, because those were the games that had multiplayer lobbies.  For our computer time, we wiled away our afternoons playing Serious Sam and Unreal Tournament.  She introduced me to a couple of RPGs that looked fun, but I couldn't convince my parents to buy them.

Oddly enough, I could convince my parents to get racing games for me.  Need for Speed, Monster Truck Madness, the ever classic Star Wars: Podracer, etc.  I think this was because my sister and my dad would play those games with me.  My dad even went and got us a steering wheel set-up...

Eventually I was able to get some of those RPGs that I so desired and have played many of the big names out there since (most installments of Final Fantasy from 7 onwards, Kingdom Hearts, Assassin's Creed, Dragon Age, and so on).  My single player experience has grown to encompass many, many sims (the appropriately titled Sims, Cities: Skylines, Planet Zoo, and so many more).

Even though I really enjoy single player games, the majority of my game time is spent playing with someone.  I played through a lot of the Nancy Drew games with a friend and now my husband and I go out of our way to find games that we can play together, be they RTS like Starcraft II, strategy like Endless Space, factory building like Satisfactory, or back to my co-op shooter roots with Deep Rock Galactic.
